I'm annoyed because you are being completely rude and inconsiderate and I have no idea why because I have no clue who you are. But whatever. If that's the way you wanna be, so be it.

Why don't we just delete this thread. I mean it's become pointless, cause every argument that has been put forth is the same. It's the "layne's the only one"VS the  "It's an incredible homage to Layne and AIC" sides. Whatever any side will say, the other side will say "We don't really care, cause (insert argument here).

This thread could go on for pages without end, and where will it end? The Band-bashers are still going to hate the band for touring woithoutLayne, although he's long dead already.

what do you think layne would do

    if Jerry had died.

just start a new band and never get with the 2 remaining

members again and play aic songs?

its not a dishonor,if anything there doing it in honor of  Layne.

and there doing it for the true and the new fans.

    load of crap,change there name,dishonor---

    i dont think so.

Re: what i think of the new alice in chains

I  also dislike William Duvall so far.  I've only heard him on the VH1 program with Heart, but he seemed to lack the heart and soul that Layne gave in everyone of his performances.  To be fair I have only seen that footage so maybe he has improved with time.  I won't be seeing him live unfortunately.  No shows in my area.  I'd like to see Jerry take over lead vocals but guitar playing and singing is apparently a real bitch to deal with.

I disagree with you on the name change thing.  Its still AIC they are still playing the same songs with the same intensity.  It would be the ultimate disrespect to Layne to take the name he gave the band and throw it away like he doesn't matter anymore because he left this world for a higher purpose.   Its not just the Jerry Cantrell band- Mike and Sean are still here.

I disagree with you on the DP theory as well.  When we lost Dave they moved on and found Jason and evolved.  It couldn't just stay DP playing the same record over and over forever.  Now they have fired Jason and Ryan McCombs formerly of Soil has joined the line up.  With the third DP record they with evolve more while still maintaining they past present and future material.  I just saw them live and they did material true to who they are now and tue to what it was before we lost Dave. They are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life.  I was talking with CJ for a good 15-20 minutes after the show was over.  I also talked to Stevie for a few and you seriously couldn't find too many other bands that are that down to earth.

I'm really not happy with the vocals...

I'm sorry... I tried to like CWTF... I *tried* to like William's singing... He's a great person... talked to me after one of their shows and everything... I just *can't* get into his voice.

Hearing him sing the Alice songs kinda ruins it for me... Should they tour near my house I'm not sure if I'd want to go... And Alice in Chains is my favorite band... Ever. Period.   That's saying a lot.

I'm pretty confused... And really just all around disappointed.

Thats pretty much the feeling I have. I've never heard something of CWTF before the AIC reunion tour so I really digged this band and I can't feel anything special from it, there's something in Duvalls voice I just can't swallow. I got the Rock Am Ring dvd which has a pretty decent sound and I'm glad to see the guys are in good shape but I don't like how the Alice songs sound with Duvall.

Anyway I don't see this reunion band as the "new alice in chains" They are the remaining members of Alice In Chains paying tribute to their legacy with a guest singer and thats a very good thing.

Re: what i think of the new alice in chains

Williams great, but I do agree that touring this year has turned away a lot of the fans. Most of the fans I talk to, minus here on the board, think the band shouldnt continue without Layne. I'm sure those are most of the casual fans that think that. Me being a diehard fan, i'm happy with seeing the band any way I can. Shows are selling out, so a lot of the fans are still interested in Alice. I just don't see if the band records a new album, it could be as successful as any of their other albums. Williams great at singing classic Alice songs that Layne helped make famous...but will fans be interested in new material that Layne never sang?  That's the big question.

Re: what i think of the new alice in chains

I'll always be a fan no matter what, but I'll be a fan of Alice In Chains, the Alice In Chains which had the best frontman a band could have and who was the main reason of their success. Jerry, Mike and Sean have the right to move on, use the alice name, record a new album, earn some new fans, etc., but they will be always under the shadow of a legendary, almost mythic band, and those new fans with a new album in their hands will want to listen the previous albums, and they'll discover an amazing past, a past which always will be on top of everything they'll do, and probably will think they're out of time.

    IMHO
