    Jerry signature guitar?

I heard a rumor that Dean is going to by making a Jerry Cantrell signature model.  I haven't found any concrete info confirming this.  Does anyone out there know anything about this?

It is called the Dean Soltero, it isn't a genuine Jerry Cantrell signature, it is just a guitar built to Jerry Cantrell's specifications.  They have 22 fret ebony boards with silver and abalone "Hardtail" inlays, they have a Hardtail bridge, Grover Tuners, an Earvana nut, dual humbuckers (Duncan JB + 59), shit of that nature.  I have seen the Flame topped ones, white ones, and black ones online.  I saw the Black NAMM one on ebay and that sold for over $3,500.  Jerry has a few different ones and I saw him live with a nice red flamed top one.  He also has a few of them routed out for Kahler trems.

wow... It blows me out to know what you want from an instrument and somebody willing to build it for you...

Like a car specifically made for the size of your legs and needs and a love that fits you just right...

To play a guitar that is made for the shape of your fingers and positions you think it's better for you may be like finding the perfect match for your kiss and sex.

    Into reality. That is wicked.

I don't want anybody building my world for me, but if I can have some help that would be good. And I want my signature in it too. In the colors I choose. hehe

Changing colors, according to my mood. ; )

-listening to Cantara... (dead can dance- i really love this song)

If you want to get an exceptional custom guitar you can always go through Carvin or Ran.  They will build nearly everything you want.  Carvin only makes stratish type guitars right now, but if you have the money (surprisingly little actually), Ran will make the guitar for you.

    Re: Jerry signature guitar?

Well, as I am sure some of you know, NAMM is going down right now and they came out with the total specifications of the Soltero SL, the Import version of the made in the USA Solteros.  Again, as you know, Jerry Cantrell began sporting the Dean Soltero and although it isn't a true signature model guitar, it is the guitar he is starting to take a shine to over his Gibson Les Pauls and G&L Rampages/ASATs.

    • Made in Japan (built on par with USA's, much like ESP and Ibanez)
    • Ebony Fretboards
    • DiMarzio Pickups ("custom wound" or in laymans terms, nonamers)
    • 3/4" Maple Cap (Astounding depth of flame with a very beautiful appearance.  Most guitars use a 1/4"-1/2" cap, thicker being better.  The 3/4" cap will provide a deeper flame as well as a brighter tone)
    • Mahogany body and set neck
    • Chrome Hardware
    • 2x Tone, 2x Volume, 1x 3-way toggle switch
    • "Hardtail" bridge
    • "Hardtail" abalone inlays with special silver and abalone "Hardtail" inlay at the 12th fret
    • Dean Abalone wings logo on headstock (black paint on all models)
    • Four Finishes:
      • Transparent Amber:  Flammed top, golden to orange amber burst
      • Transparent Black:  Flammed top, dark outer edges with a dyed look in center of guitar
      • Transparent Brasiliaburst:  Flammed top, more of a vintage style burst
      • Transparent Cherry Sunburst:  Flammed top
    • List Price:  $3,500
    • MAP Price (minimum price at which a Dean dealer can list the guitar to the public):  $2,100

I know these guitars sound expensive for an import model, but I have heard from a few reliable NAMM sources that these guitars are incredibly well crafted.  My good buddy said that the flame on the model he saw made his Gibson Les Paul Standard Desert Burst look like "an over priced piece of crumpled paper."  I personally think that $2,100 for an import guitar is too much, but remember, if you contact a Dean guitar dealer via phone or e-mail (consider http://www.centerstagemusicinc.com, http://www.carlinoguitars.com, http://www.funkymunkymusic.com, http://www.brgmore.com, http://www.UKguitars.com, http://www.nitro-tone.com, that is all I know, and in no particular order) THEY WILL work out a price with you.  Hope this helps anyone looking for the more affordable version of the Soltero.  As for the USA version I believe the only differences are Seymour Duncan JB/59 Pickups, Satin Nickel hardware, a 5A Maple Top, and a few thousand dollars.

Yeah his Les Paul was wine red.  I'm the same way too Valoosj, I don't feel much like spending that kind of money on a guitar anyway, and if I did, I would buy something far better than a fixed bridge Dean Soltero.  I think a big problem for the Soltero is the fact that they are charging enormous prices for a guitar that really isn't all that unique.
